The Alliance is recognized as the collaborative body that drives the discourse of faecal sludge and septage management (FSSM) forward in India. The NFSSM Alliance in
collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) has been instrumental in the passage of India’s first national policy on FSSM in 2017.
Sanitation Capacity Building platform (SCBP) is designed to support and build the capacity of town/cities to plan and implement decentralized sanitation solutions. The platform facilitates knowledge and experience sharing among cities on decentralized sanitation to accomplish national missions: Swachh Bharat Mission, AMRUT, Smart Cities Mission and Namami Gange Programme. The Platform supports the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. of India’s focus on urban sanitation. It assists states and cities to move beyond open defecation-free status by addressing the safe disposal and treatment of human faeces.
SCBP is a knowledge platform on decentralised urban sanitation. With an overload of information on the SCBP website provides a library of important government orders and reports, training modules and advocacy documents on decentralised urban sanitation.
